Sludge Management

Centralized STPs generate sludge as a byproduct of the treatment process. Sludge may undergo further treatment, such as anaerobic digestion to produce biogas, followed by dewatering and drying. The treated sludge, known as biosolids, may be used as fertilizer or undergo incineration or landfill disposal.
